Notify people
only when it is real.
Confirmed downtime opens an incident. The project Default response policy emails you. Status page subscribers hear about it only after you publish.
Two audiences
Responders and subscribers are not the same message
Internal response stays on the incident. Public communication is a publication you choose to create.
Responder email
The Default policy emails you on a confirmed outage. Uncheck Email me to bind Silent — no responder mail.
Recovery is per monitor
Notify on recovery is a monitor option. Turning it off on one monitor does not change another.
Subscribers need a publication
An internal incident stays private until you publish it to a status page.
Public updates
Investigating, identified, monitoring, resolved — written on the publication, not the operational incident.
Channels you already use
Email today. Slack and webhooks use the same response-policy and publication path.
One incident, one notification
A confirmed DOWN opens exactly one operational incident. Replays do not send a second email.
Default or Silent — never an ambiguous null
Responders
Per-monitor, not a shared policy mutation
Recovery
Impossible without a publication
Subscribers
Every send traces back to an incident or warning
Audit
Keep the inbox
trustworthy.
Create a Website monitor, leave the defaults, and you get one email when the outage is confirmed — not when a single region blinks.
